My approach to teaching the flute is grounded in clarity, patience, and embodied understanding.
Technique and expression are not treated as separate domains, but as two aspects of the same process: how the body, the breath, and the imagination organise themselves through sound.

I work with concrete, simple exercises that help students build a reliable technical base — one that feels steady and spacious rather than effortful. Sound production, breathing, finger technique, articulation, and vibrato are developed step by step, so that steadiness and ease become the conditions from which musical freedom can arise.

A central part of my teaching is helping students understand how the music they play actually works. Analysis is not an abstract add-on, but a practical tool: phrasing, timing, and character become clearer when the inner logic of a piece is intelligible.

Playing music without truly understanding it is like reading a text in a language you can pronounce but do not truly speak — the words may sound right, but their meaning rarely reaches the listener.

I have a strong background in Baroque, Classical, and Romantic repertoire, and I also work extensively with contemporary music and extended techniques. Across styles, the focus remains the same: cultivating attention, listening, and bodily awareness, so that expression can unfold from a place of stability and presence.

My flute lessons are open to anyone interested in developing their playing in a grounded, thoughtful, and sustainable way.

“Warm, patient, personable and somehow knowledgeable in every single topic I asked about, Gaspar taught me not only the mechanical aspects of playing the flute, but the importance of emotion, the body, and the mind in music as a whole. I have met few people, let alone teachers, that have left such a lasting impression on my way of thinking and playing.”
